COMUNICATO 1

After being the sole race of the European Championship in 2019, Maga will return to the
international stage……

Together with the legendary Trofeo Kima, the Orobian skymarathon traced along the ridges
that connect Menna, Arera, Grem, and Alben, the mountains from whose initials an iconic and
magical name has been derived, will be a stage of the Merrel Skyrunner® World Series..

The date to mark in red on the race calendar is September 22nd, when the world’s elite in the
field of skyrunning will battle it out on the highly technical and spectacular 39 km (3000 m d+)
Orobian trails, which in the past have been the stage for epic challenges. On Friday, April
19 th  at the unique location of the Casino in San Pellegrino Terme (Bergamo), the race was
officially present to the “skyrunning” community by the Maga president Elio Carrara and his
staff. The true magic of Maga was shared to the general public through the words of Juri
Pianetti, the official speaker of this race and many additional top events in the field.

Other preliminary stages to this “world event” will include Maga Gourmet on June 30th: a
staged route in the Municipality of Oltre il Colle to explore the territory and its products in
collaboration with the restaurants and farms located in the Municipalities involved in the race
route. Following that, on July 28th, it will be the turn of the Mini Maga: a day dedicated to
children and families in the Municipality of Serina.

In the meantime, registrations have been open since April 1st and several top athletes have
already confirmed their presence. Among many others, prominent names include Hillary
Gerardi (USA – Team Black Diamond/Scarpa), Louison Coiffet (FRA – Team Merrel), Nadir
Maguet (ITA – Team La Sportiva), Manuel Merillas (SPA – Team New Balance). For
the worldwide occasion, the organizing committee has decided to increase the maximum
number of participants (300 for the skymarathon and 300 for the skyrace), but don't wait too
long to register… All the conditions are in place for race bibs to sell out!
